PRE – SCHOOL EDUCATION

·         Pre – kindergarten (3-5 years old)

·         Kindergarten (4-6 years old)

COMPULSORY EDUCATION

·         12 compulsory years of education (kindergarten to high (senior) school)

·         Elementary school (5 – 10 years old)

o   Kindergarten (5-6 years old)

o   Elementary school (6-10,11,12)

§  Pupils can leave elementary school in

§   4^th – to Middle school

§  5^th – to  Middle school or Junior high school

§  6^th – to Junior high school

SECODNARY EDUCATION

·         Is divide to:

EDUCATION IN GREAT BRITAIN

·         There are three systems which take care of education:

o   One for England, Wales

o   One for Northern Ireland

o   One for Scotland

Differences between those parts are very small.

·         Education is free from 5 -16 years old

·         Majority of student go to state school 90%

PRE – SCHOOL EDUCATION

·         Divided to :

o   Infant school

SECODNARY EDUCATION

·         Comprehensive school

o   All school has same national curriculum

o   There are no vocational or technical schools

o   Study general stuffs

o   11-16 years old

o   In age 16 – everybody takes GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (GCSE)  - main state examination

§  Minimum of subject are 3

§  More ambitions students and those who want to continue with studying takes 5, 6 subj.

·         After comprehensive school student:

o   End with studying and go work

o   Continue to SIXTH FORM

·         SIXTH FORM

o   1,2 years

o   There are here specialized in 3,4 subjects

o   Preparing to higher education

o   Ending: they take very hard exam  A LEVELS (advance level)

o   Based on grade from A level – they are taken to university

TERTIARY (HIGHER) EDUCATION

·         Technology college (art, technique, ...)

·         University (Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester)

·         Most of them are divided to faculties

EDUCATION IN CZECH REPUBLIC

·         There is a low which says that everybody has rights to free education at primary, secondary and university (depend on age).

·         Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport takes care of everything about education

o   Leads the curriculums (osnovy) 

·         We have state and private school. Private schools has generally lower quality then states one.
