My high school

I study at the comprehensive school Gymnázium Na Zatlance  11, Praha 5.I have been studying here for 4 years, now.

Before I went to Zatlanka, four years ago, I had been studying for 4 years at an 8 year - comprehensive school called Klasické gymnázium Modřany. It was a private school and I wasn’t satisfied by the level of education. So I started to search for some well known state school with a quite high level of education. Lots of my friends have recommended Zatlanka to me. I also liked this school because it was supposed to be specialized on the English language. My priority was choosing a school which is specialized on the English language. Luckily I passed the entrance exam successfully and I started to study at Zatlanka. Unfortunately I realize that English lessons here are not as awesome as I expected. No more English lessons, no subject in English language like they had promised. I was really disappointed.

On the other hand – except for the English - I love this school. I feel that other subjects are not that easy to study and I have to try hard.

Also I must appreciate all of the teachers – there are some exceptions – but mostly, they stay with us the whole four years and I think they prepare us for final exams.

In my opinion, the rest of whole organization of our school is quite good. There are some negatives like – that we have a tiny gym and no outdoor field, so when it is not snowing we have to go outside to a very far hill and have PI there.

I am also sad that we don’t have our own canteen. I love our buffet – especially when there was Miladka (our old saleslady). But the canteen... I hate that we are supposed to eat at 3 PM - everybody is unbelievably hungry and run 10 minutes to the public canteen. This canteen is usually crowded with people from other schools and it is really uncomfortable.

Now I want to say some advantages and positives instead of criticism.

I like how our school looks. It is a very old and beautiful building. I also admire those magnificent stairs. When I am here I feel like I am part of something which has history.

In my point of view our notice board on the second floor is amazing idea and it is very useful. You can put some information there, or you can leave there a notice when you lost something

What I love the most, it is our hot water machine. This machine keeps me alive whole winter. I can make tea or coffee for free – and I usually do this many times a day. 

Another excellent idea is calling classes with different letters from the alphabet. My class has letter K and this is what we are – K. I love it, it is our letter and it’s unique.

I think that should be all about my lovely (high) comprehensive school. Even If there are some positives and negatives, I am happy and proud that I can study here and call Zatlanka my high school.
